BMI continues to build both large and small gantry robots that handle a variety of different products. Many of these systems have been designed to orient and position products for further processing or for storage.
Often times a gantry is the perfect solution to solve industrial automation needs. The gantry shown in the image to the left is a robust heavy-duty system being used in several steel mills to automatically spray a tundish used in the production process. This system not only improves efficiency but also does a job that was difficult for personnel.
Gantry robots (sometimes called cartesian robots) can come in many sizes. The system shown in the image to the right is used to pick and place injection molded parts. One of the major advantages of a gantry robot system is that it usually takes up very little floor space. This is due to its over-head nature.
Case Handling System
Large travel spans and multiple products are ideal applications for our gantry robots.
The gantry shown here travels over forty feet along the X-axis and is capable of speeds exceeding 300 ft/min.
The vertical axis (Z-axis) on this system is telescoping to reduce overall height requirements and travels over 130 inches to build pallets at fourteen locations.
Throughout BMI's years of experience we have designed, built and programmed many gantry robot systems for our customers. However, many times our customers require a custom built system.

Many of our systems are
palletizers, but BMI also builds and integrates systems such as ASRS - Automatic Storage and Retrieval Systems, Pick & Place and Robotic Work Cells.  BMI also has a long history of supplying equipment for the brick industry.

Multi-Drive Options
Belt Driven Actuators
The image at the top of this page shows a Single Beam Gantry with Belt Driven X & Y axis.  When conditions permit this high strength composite belt system is ideal for providing quite operation on high speed / minimal backlash systems.
R&P Driven Actuators
The image shown below is of a Dual Beam Gantry with Rack & Pinion Driven X & Y axis. When harsh environments must be accounted for, traditional rack and pinion is ideal for providing robust linear motion.
